Frostbite Apples and Hot Pirate Cider Recipe

Writer's picture: Kim LapacekKim Lapacek

The Frostbite is an apple people either love or hate. There's not much in between but those that love them watch for them meticulously once they get close to their approximate ripening date.

Approximate Ripening Date: September 6th

Flavor: It's hard to describe the flavor of this apple. It has a tangy, sweet bunch that is almost like biting into a piece of sugarcane. It is a small apple with a crisp, juicy bite.

Baking: The frostbite cooks down into a chunky/smooth sauce. Great for mixing with other apples to create a real pop of flavor. I also really like soaking them in brandy for a few months to make apple bounce.
